If you live in a shared home, we can help with everyday life there. This includes Supported Independent Living, which the NDIS calls SIL. Our workers help through the day and overnight — with personal care, meals, medication, the housework, getting out, and sorting things out when housemates do not see eye to eye. We help with what you need, and step back from what you can do yourself.
What's included
- Support during the day, in the evening and overnight
- Personal care and everyday help at home
- Cooking, cleaning, shopping and washing, done together
- Medication, and getting to health appointments
- Building up what you can do on your own, at your own pace
- Helping housemates sort out problems and share the home well
Who it's for
People living in a shared home or a SIL house who want steady, familiar staff rather than a roster that keeps changing.
Questions about shared living
SIL pays for the people who help you. SDA pays for the house itself. They are two separate things, and they can come from two different providers. You can have VSG Home Care as your SIL provider in a house that somebody else owns or runs.
Yes. Who you live with makes more difference than almost anything else. It should be your decision, made with support — never a decision made for you.
