Aged care at home
Aged care at home is changing, and most people meet the system for the first time in the middle of something difficult — a fall, a hospital discharge, a parent who is managing less well than they were. These pages explain how it works in plain words, with no sales pitch attached, because we cannot sell you anything yet.
We are not an aged care provider yet
VSG Home Care is a registered NDIS provider. We are not an approved aged care provider yet, and we cannot deliver Support at Home services today. We intend to seek approval, and this page is where you can ask to be told when it happens. Until then, if you need aged care support now, start with My Aged Care or call them on 1800 200 422 — they arrange the assessment everything else follows from.
Why join the list
- You will hear from us the week we are approved, before we advertise anywhere else.
- We will tell you honestly whether we can cover your suburb and the hours you need, rather than adding you to a queue.
- If we are not approved, or it takes longer than we hope, we will tell you that too — and you can ask us to delete your details at any time.
What it is not
- It is not a service agreement, and it does not cost anything.
- It does not affect your My Aged Care assessment, your place in any queue, or your current provider.
- It is not a referral to anyone else — your details are not sold or passed on.
Join the waiting list
Takes about a minute. We will not contact you about anything else, and we do not pass your details to anyone.
How aged care at home works
Written because the system is genuinely confusing and most of what is online about it is either a government page or a sales page. No sign-up needed to read any of it.
Home care package levels, and what replaced them
Home Care Packages came in four levels, from level 1 for basic care needs to level 4 for high care needs, and each level carried a different amount of funding.
What aged care funding at home can and cannot be spent on
Aged care funding at home pays for care and support that helps you keep living at home: personal care such as showering and dressing, nursing, help around the house, meal preparation, transport to appointments, allied health, and some equipment and home modifications.
Home Care Packages became Support at Home: what changed
Support at Home replaced Home Care Packages on 1 July 2025.
Need help under the NDIS instead?
That we can do today. We are a registered NDIS provider across Melbourne.

- Can VSG Home Care provide aged care services now?
- No. VSG Home Care is a registered NDIS provider. We are not an approved aged care provider yet, and we cannot deliver Support at Home services today. Aged care and the NDIS are separate systems with separate regulators, and being registered for one does not cover the other. This page exists so we can contact you if and when that changes.
- What does joining the waiting list commit me to?
- Nothing at all. It is not a service agreement, it costs nothing, and it does not affect your My Aged Care assessment, your position in any queue, or your current provider. You can ask us to delete your details at any time.
- What is the difference between the NDIS and aged care?
- The NDIS funds supports for people under 65 with a permanent, significant disability, and is regulated by the NDIS Commission. Aged care — now delivered through Support at Home — funds help for people aged 65 and over, and is regulated by the Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission. They are different programmes with different eligibility, different funding and different providers.
- Where should I start if I need aged care help now?
- With My Aged Care, at myagedcare.gov.au or on 1800 200 422. They arrange the assessment that decides what you are approved for. Nothing on this website replaces that, and no provider can arrange support for you until the assessment is done.
Still not sure? Call 0432 811 151 and ask. We will tell you plainly whether we can help, including when the answer is no.
